The 7th House

without comments

The Anniversary’s Seventh House:
The 7th House with The Earth
The 7th House with The Earth

The 7th house is the home of relationships – with other people, and their ideas.  One can never say enough about the role of “The Other” in life.  He/She/It is an indispensable part of who we are.  It is also the mirror back to one’s Self as well as a view into the “other self.”  By sign, in personal charts, it indicates the kind of relationship energy that one would be comfortable with.  Planets there will have something to say about the specific behaviors one could expect to see in relationships, of course according to the personality of the planet.  For example, Venus would lend an air of femininity, congeniality and affection.  Another: Mars is attractive, energetic, active, dangerous and sexual.  Look to the sign to see how The Other is dressed.   The natural ruler of the 7th is is Libra; its ruling planet, Venus.

The 6th and 12th Houses

without comments

Well, whadda ya know?  There’s nobody home:

The Empty 6th and 12 th Houses
The Empty 6th and 12 th Houses

But as I’ve mentioned elsewhere, there are never really ANY houses that are empty in a chart.  In the first place, those who pay attention to the Asteroid Goddesses will no doubt notice that actually Vesta is in the 6th house, emphasizing service to others, among other things.  However, since I have not mentioned the presence of Juno in the 2nd house, I’m going to skip any comment on Vesta in the 6th also.  So, that leaves us with nothing of note in the 6th & 12th.  But not really.  You see, there is always the unspoken presence of the rulers of the empty houses which do very much color how those houses contribute to an understanding of the chart.   Here, with Libra on the 12th and Aries on the 6th, we have a particularly interesting shading in these empty houses with Mars ruling the 6th and Venus the 12th.

In the first place, Venus and Mars represent two very different energies in any chart.  You know, women are from Venus, men are from Mars?   Doesn’t get too much different than that, does it?

The 5th House (Part 2)

without comments

So far, we’ve seen that the fifth is the house of creativity and self-expression.  In addition, it is the house that shows how we attempt to distinguish ourselves from others.  And as we noted in Part 1, it is colored by the spiritual Piscean Moon’s needs, emotions and mentality.  That Pisces Moon is also a reflection of the public’s emotional responses to its (fifth house) creativity.  All this and not even a mention of the eccentric Uranus here yet.

The Discovery

Sir William Herschel, an amateur astronomer and professional musician of historical little note, first discovered what he thought was a new comet late in the evening of March 13, 1781.  Within months of its sudden, unexpected and “out of the blue” discovery, John Townley tells us1, Uranus2 was recognized as the first trans-Saturnine planet.  It is so eccentric that its poles, instead of being in a north/south orientation, are actually almost parallel to the plane of its orbit.  In other words, from Earth, it seems to be lying on its side.   Now that’s different!

It is perhaps no coincidence that the discovery of Uranus coincides with the adoption of the Articles of Confederation by the Continental Congress (3/1/1781, BTW, the date that I personally consider to be the correct date for the birth chart of the USA), and the year of Cornwallis’s defeat at Yorktown.  It was the year that “the world turned upside down.”3 In every sense then the coming of Uranus marked the conception of the Age of Aquarius.  This two hundred year gestation period has been marked by revolutions, the struggle for freedom and liberty around the globe, the development of electric power, an exponential period of industrial growth, the development of modern transportation systems, an explosion in the field of communications and the “first step for man” into outer space.  All this since that planetary discovery.

Anniversary Astrology – The 5th House (part one)

without comments

Now that the move from our Web Forum over here has been completed, I can get back to the astrology of the Harmonic Concordance 5th Anniversary (just in case you forgot why we’re here ;) ).

5th House

The Concordance Anniversarys 5th House
The Concordance Anniversary’s 5th House

Here’s the very short story with this particular 5th house, with Pisces on the cusp and occupied by the Moon and Uranus: we fill our emotional needs by creating something spiritual in unexpected and unusual ways.  Once again, pretty neat, considering what the Concordance and its Anniversary Party is all about.  But let’s fill in the details of how this is so, astrologically.

Anniversary Astrology – The 4th House

without comments

Something that I haven’t mentioned yet concerns what you, as individuals, may wish to do with all this astrological information.   As I see it, there is good reason to call together the millions of folks who celebrated the Concordance back in ‘03. The world seems to be rushing headlong to hell in a hand basket. If there is any way to arrest that flight, anything that I can do about it at any rate, then I have to do it.   I am urging you to do what you can with this information.  Take that Global energy that was so apparent in the Concordance chart, and bring it home, inside, to your own individual selves.  And let’s do it, once again, collectively.  Hold your own remembrance celebration, alone or with others, now or then (is not “time” the greatest third-dimensional illusion?) and in holding that energy, give Gratitude that it has been accomplished, for all of us (we are ONE, after all), for “…these things I do, you shall do, and greater.”

That said, let’s have a look at the Fourth House.

The Annniversarys 4th House
The Annniversary’s 4th House

In the first place, the 4th is seen as representing the mother or the father.  Some refer to it as the parent of the opposite sex. Actually, depending on the chart and the person, I have found that it may be either.  For the purpose of this discussion, however, I’ll take the Mother, as it fits appropriately with another notion, I will explain in a little while.

With Cancer and the Moon as its natural ruler, the 4th is so often associated with the “home.”  However, first and foremost, it is where one discovers “the root of the root of the Self,” that part of us which is at the very bottom of ourselves.  The 4th house marks an important element of a person’s character and nearly rivals the Sun, Moon and Ascendant in importance when discussing the basics of an individual’s self expression.

Anniversary Astrology – The 3rd House

without comments

I have been working on rounding up folks who will be holding “anniversary parties” for the Concordance. Apparently there will be many such fetes going on around the world. Drop me a line if you’d like to host one.

And now…

The 3rd House

Tha Concordance Anniversarys 3rd House
Concordance Anniversary’s 3rd House

As I mentioned there, in a previous post regarding the “show me something three times” idea, Jupiter’s position in the 3rd actually has quite an important role in this Anniversary chart, not only by its placement in the third house, but also by its effect on the house opposite it, the 9th.   But before we get to that, let’s take a look at the spiritual side of this particular Capricorn ruled 3rd house.

Now Capricorn is what is referred to as a dual-bodied sign.  Its symbol is known as the “Sea-Goat.”  The upper part of its body is that of a mountain goat, arguably the terrestrial animal which lives at the highest elevations on the planet. The bottom half is that of a fish, the Earth creature that lives at the lowest altitude, below sea level.  It looks like this:

Anniversary Astrology – The 2nd House

without comments

Time to move on to…

The 2nd house

The Concordance Avviversarys 2nd House
The Concordance Avviversary’s 2nd House

Here we have a Sagittarius house, occupied by Venus and Pluto. In common astrological parlance, it is referred to as the house of possessions, one’s financial standing, one’s sense of self worth and the things that one values. In a strictly mundane account the second house is the field of money markets, banks, financial institutions, and the national wealth. But remember what I said when I began these notes…that I would be looking at this chart as that of a spiritual event. In those terms, none of the above quite qualifies. However, appropriate adaptations of them may certainly be applied.

For instance, in regard to the concepts of “possessions” and “things that one values,” there are clear spiritual correspondences. In this field of experience (i.e. house), what is it that we possess? Clearly, in a spiritual sense, it is nothing material. However, I do possess a sense of “Self.” I and I alone am me, myself and I. I “have” me, but what does that “me” have? The key idea that comes most readily to mind is that of my “soul.” It is my one true spiritual possession. As such, it is that personal asset which I value most. If it were not such a valuable commodity, what price wouldn’t the Devil pay for it? ;)

Anniversary Astrology – The 1st House

without comments

As most of you know, astrology is basically the study of the language of a specific set of symbols. As in every other language, those symbols can speak on different levels and be directed to diverse audiences. Here I make the assumption that the audience I am addressing is largely one that understands spiritual and metaphysical concepts. Therefore, my commentary on the Concordance astrology is slanted along those lines.

Now, when reading a chart, one may choose to begin at any number of places. For the purposes of this discussion I’ve chosen to begin with the Anniversary chart’s 1st house; sort of like beginning to read a book at Chapter One.

It must be remembered that the H.C. 5th Anniversary chart is not one relating to an individual. In that regard, it does not relate to the usual 1st house significators describing an individual’s body, appearance, personality, chief characteristic, and the way he/she sees the world. This Concordance chart, on the other hand, describes an event. As such it has more in common with Mundane Astrology which carries the qualities of a moment of time in regards to a nation, its people, and its image. In this case, we can substitute the Harmonic Concordance, its “people” and the image that the Anniversary projects, since the “natal” chart that provides the basis for this analysis is the original Harmonic Concordance chart of November, 2003.

The First House

Anniversary 1st House
Anniversary 1st House

Here we have Scorpio as the rising sign. I particularly like the association of Scorpio with the Phoenix rising from its ashes. In a spiritual context the symbol represents death, re-birth and transformation. Additionally, according to Dane Rudhyar, it suggests the collective urge to unite with others.1 This notion can easily be transposed onto the mundane aspects of the first house, particularly when considering what the Concordance, and its anniversary, is all about. And did I mention that there is no sign as intense as Scorpio?

The "Bowl" Pattern

without comments

So let’s look at the chart for the Concordance anniversary Solar Return. If you will recall, the particulars are as follows:

Date: November 8, 2008
Time: 7:10 AM, BST (the exact moment of the Solar return)
Place: Greenwich, UK

Astrologers will note that I have used the the Equal House system, a practice which I have used successfully for more than 30 years now. It is also the house system that was used in all my past discussions of the Concordance. Consistent, me. ;)

Lots of places to begin, but I’ll start with the very obvious pattern in the chart. You can easily see that all of the planets fall in half of the chart, dividing the circle in two. Here they are arrayed, counterclockwise, from Saturn to Uranus. Marc Edmund Jones, one of the 20th century’s most widely read astrologers, in his book The Guide to Horoscope Interpretation, called this pattern “The Bowl.”

Perhaps the image below would more readily show “The Bowl.”

The 5th Anniversary of the Harmonic Concordance

without comments

It seems as though it was just the other night that we looked up at the Total Lunar Eclipse that was one of the major features of the astrological chart which heralded the Harmonic Concordance.1 The celebrations and ceremonies that took place then marked the single largest spiritual assemblage, at one specific moment in time, in recorded history.  Untold millions of spiritually oriented people around the Planet – from Moscow to Malaysia, from the Aleutians to Tierra del Fuego, took time, individually and in groups small and large, to join in a moment of prayerful common intent.  From literally thousands of locations around the globe simultaneous prayers went out for three specific intents:

the actualization of our individual relationship with the
One Source of Creation,
the unconditional acceptance of Unity Consciousness
(that we are all ONE) and
a healing for our beloved Mother Earth,
the source of our physical manifestation.

The chart of that moment displayed a distinctive pattern, or “signature,” visible even to the untrained eye.  The astrological holograph of that the moment is fundamentally spiritual in nature, and can be understood in terms of Quantum Meta-Physics as well as by ‘astro-spiritual’ metaphor.   It speaks of the descent of God-Consciousness upon this plane, a moment in time when humankind might make a concerted effort to rise up to meet that descending Spirit.  We also know that this moment has always been open to those willing to step through it.  Although that chart depicts a moment now in our past, the energies embodied in it can still be used to show us how to activate that moment in the ever present and only moment of NOW.

For those who are new to the Harmonic Concordance or who might not remember what all the astrological fuss was about and what so interested astrologers around the world,  this very first essay on the astrology of the Concordance,  The Chart Heard ‘Round the World might be helpful, while Why Are We Here? might bring to mind the hope that the Concordance continues to engender in every moment we choose to embrace the power of that NOW.
